HALLOWEEN ANIMATED & ILLUSTRATED

HALLOWEEN ANIMATED & ILLUSTRATED

Perhaps one of the more playful of mailers is the annual illustrations and animations created for Halloween. This year I decided to do a mix of day of the dead stylish skulls. It convinced me that one of  2021's goals is a Halloween themed campaign for a brand. I could see these skulls being made into treats... I've already started manifesting.....fingers crossed.....🎃

A LITTLE DOSE OF GOOD NEWS

A LITTLE DOSE OF GOOD NEWS

To counterbalance all the crazy, and at time depressing news - my wonderful agents in the USA have each week, for the last three months been sending out a weekly mailer 'A Little Dose of Good News' .   Each week one of their artist takes over and selects current events with the aim to hopefully remind us that all is not so bad.   This time it was my turn. I captured the work in progress on my Instagram as always.  I illustrated articles on  Body Neutrality, repurposing expired beer for renewable energy and a thank you from Rio to its health care workers that made me smile.   I...

FASHION ILLUSTRATION EXHIBITION – SUMMER 2020

FASHION ILLUSTRATION EXHIBITION – SUMMER 2020

The Summer of 2020 is one I think we will all remember, but for myself, it is definitely not for the usual Summer holidays. At the start of lock down, way back in early Spring (which to me feels forever ago...) I was invited to be included in two separate exhibitions, both focusing on Fashion Illustration. These wonderful opportunities gave me a creative outlet and focus, which in hindsight helped me focus on something beyond that madness of 2020. And perhaps most importantly two deadlines - and I now know there is nothing quite as effective as an exhibition deadline to keep a creative on...

Studio Move. I am now in Shoreditch.

Studio Move. I am now in Shoreditch.

Back in April, (yes it’s really taken me this long. This isn't procrastination -  I’ve been really busy) I moved studios. After moving back to London last May, I landed in Dalston - in a really great spot sharing with a big bunch of talented, successful and very inspiring illustrators. It was my first ever London studio and it really helped in more ways than I could have ever imagined. Far beyond the obvious of not working from home all alone (yup, did that once, won’t be doing that again thanks)  For me, working in a shared space with fellow creatives did far more than keep loneliness at...

Review – Ca Na Xica, Ibiza, for Mr & Mrs Smith Hotels

Review – Ca Na Xica, Ibiza, for Mr & Mrs Smith Hotels

There are few things more disheartening than the dwindling days of summer in London. But the turtlenecks and trench coats would have to wait. Mr Smith and I were bound for southern Europe: one last summer swansong in search of warm days and blue skies. We craved a pool, great food and a destination that lent itself to relaxation, so Ibiza was settled on. Now, before you go waving your glow sticks at me, I am aware that this notion may be a contradiction on this celebrated party isle. But today, Ibiza is as much about R&R as it is about bars and clubs. Especially if, like me, you...

Review – Soprarno Suites, Florence, for Mr & Mrs Smith Hotels

Review – Soprarno Suites, Florence, for Mr & Mrs Smith Hotels

In need of weekend away filled with both culture (for Mr Smith) and carbs (for myself) we pick Florence as our destination. It’s a city that’s as breathtaking in its beauty as it is in its food. And its wine come to mention it. Oh, and its negronis… As Tuscany’s capital, it’s a place that has all the aforementioned wants of a great city break but is in close enough proximity to Chianti’s vine-covered hills to be the starting point of a flavoursome Italian adventure. We pack our weekend bags and leave London one Friday lunchtime and arrive at the Soprano Suites early afternoon. Leonardo, the...

ME AND NYC. THE CITY OF DREAMS, AND A DREAM PROJECT. AND HOW LIFE GOES FULL CIRCLE

ME AND NYC. THE CITY OF DREAMS, AND A DREAM PROJECT. AND HOW LIFE GOES FULL CIRCLE

When I was little I would tell people that once I was a grown up my plan was to move to NYC. So I’ve always felt me and the Big Apple had unfinished business, and I suppose that little dream has never fully left my bucket list. Then, as we all do, I did grow up – well almost. I lived in London for many, many, years and to be honest that gave me my big city fix. But asi s the way with life, I took an unexpected detour. I followed my heart, and the sun, and ended up living in various Southern Hemisphere cities. First Auckland, New Zealand. Then a test run of Australia, in Sydney and Melbourne,...

MEETING MY MAIN MAN DONALD

MEETING MY MAIN MAN DONALD

Donald Roberston is my favourite fashion illustrator. I discovered him through the mighty Instagram and now I avidly follow him, along with hundred of thousands of others, last count he was closing in on 200k. It’s not surprising he’s so loved. His feed is a glorious mix of colour, energy, LA lifestyle and the hilarious antics of his kids. It’s all large tubes of colourful paint, expressive paintings bursting with energy, and poolside antics. All of this taking place in the California sun. I mean, what’s not to love?! Don’t take my word for it – have a look for yourself here. Thanks to...

LOVE LOVE LIBERTY – NOW STOCKING MY ART PRINTS

LOVE LOVE LIBERTY – NOW STOCKING MY ART PRINTS

Liberty has to be one of my all time favourite shops in London. It’s everything you want a London department store to be, and I am not just talking about the architecture. Even before you step foot in Liberty, the flower department at the main entrance is the just first of many temptations, with its ever changing display of the seasons finest flora and fauna. I’ve spent many a happy hour wondering around the beauty hall, spending a small fortune. So yes. I love Liberty. Every. Single. Floor. But especially the 4th floor now! As thanks to the wonderful Outline Editions a curated selection of...

I went to LA and ended up at The Oscars

I went to LA and ended up at The Oscars

So at the start of 2016 I was given another brief from The Wild Sam team. This time it was to illustrate the LA guide. This city has been on my travel hit list for the past year or so. Last time I visited was almost 8 years ago and I knew a lot had changed in that time. Oddly, it also felt as though all I had heard recently was LA this and LA that. And what I am finding more and more now days, is once I start being much more aware of a city or a destination, I end there without almost trying. Yes, I do believe in the Universe giving us what we need and when we need it. And so I travelled...
